Makeover Time!

Every now and again it’s nice to take the time for a little self-improvement, websites included. As many of you know, we have a long and deep attachment to our gorgeous website and its dedicated designer-mothers, Lauren and Emira of Raised Eyebrow Web Studio. The site is very personal to us and we like for it to feel like a genuine and intimate reflection of who we are (at least as much as a website realistically can!) We launched our last site in July of 2006 and have been thrilled with it, but in the year-plus since then we have learned and grown so much, making it time to update it.
One of the greatest pleasures of working at Lunapads is being able to collaborate creatively with a group of extremely passionate and clever people. Every product, fabric and statement are the result of at least 2 people talking it through, and likely more than that. This back-and-forth creativity (or flow, if you will
is at the heart of the Lunapads culture and the new site is yet another fantastic example of it.
First highlights, then kudos.
Highlights:
- The “Find Your Fit” navigation and slideshow were born of the realization that “How to Choose” was one of the most popular pages on the previous site, so it’s not a stretch to think of Find Your Fit as the new How to Choose. We love the new images (yes, that’s Suzanne about 5 months along with Garret in the “Pregnant” slide) and the intuitive approach that starts by assessing the customer’s needs, kind of like saying “what’s your period/life like?” instead of “do you want this product or that one?” as a point of departure for learning what will work for her personally.
- We are particularly excited about the Teens and Girls, Pregnant, Post Partum and Incontinent sections, reflecting the diversity of women’s (and girls’!) needs, as well as the versatility of our products.
- Liners and Kits are now their own departments, for easier shopping.
- Find a Store and Buying Clubs are new navigation items that offer customers more ways to buy.
- Buying Clubs will be the subject of my next post, but suffice to say for the moment that they are an exciting new way for customers to team up their orders and save!
- Updated images and colors.
Kudos:
- As always, Lauren and Emira and their team have come through with flying colors (in this case pink and green!)
- The only credit that I can take personally was in the design stage, where Suzanne and I, with help from Lauren and feedback from everyone here, came up with the slideshow idea and homepage layout.
- From that point, with Suzanne at the helm, Lisa and Sandra sprang into action with the implementation and testing (i.e. making it actually happen - we have access to almost the entire backend of the site). We are talking about hours of painstaking and at times frustrating work where they often had to find their own answers for extremely complex problems. Thank you is not enough - you gals are truly fearless and amazing and we are so lucky to have you with us.
- Goni and Morgan held the fort while everyone else was either busy with the site or having health issues (me, technophobia included, but I’m getting better), keeping pads coming and orders going with patience and good humor. A particular shout-out to our newest Lunagal Morgan, who arrived at a time where there was not a lot of support to be had, but has coped brilliantly.
- Last but not least, our e-commerce technical partners at IdeaLever.
So get surfing already, and let us know what you think!
