Show Us Your Stash & Win a pStyle!

Thursday, July 16th, 2009 by Morgan

It’s no secret that we live in a society where the majority prefer it if women keep their menstrual cycles, well…..a secret. We say to heck with that! We think women should be open about their periods and free to discuss and share it in whatever way they see fit. That’s why we’re having a photo contest on facebook! We’re asking Lunapads users to take a photo of their pad stash and upload it to the “I Heart My Lunapads” Facebook group. If your photo receives the most “Likes” from the group members you’ll win one of three Travel Kits! All you have to do is take a photo of your Lunapads stash or you and your favourite Lunapad and upload it to the group photo album. The group members will then vote for the winning image by hitting the “Like” button below their fave photo. If your photo wins the contest here’s what you get:

You have until August 28th to enter the contest and winners will be announced September 1st.

So far we have received some very creative entries and we can’t wait to see what is yet to come. For more information on the contest rules etc. and to see the photos that have been entered so far, visit the “I Heart My Lunapads” Facebook Group. Come Show us your stash!

A Period Encounter

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009 by Madeleine

This post is about a few random things, but is mostly just a bit of background on the funniest video we’ve made so far.  It’s probably best to just go ahead and watch it first, then come back to read the rest of the post to learn how it all happened.

Was that funny or what?  My favorite part is the soundtrack in the elevator.  Seriously, go there - the food is really good, too!

Some background: when I first started dating my husband, he was living in LA, so I often flew down for little visits with him. We headed to the Encounter restaurant in LAX for dinner one time after he picked me up and loved it.  Subsequent trips to LA have not allowed for repeat visits, but it always provokes fond memories and a laugh when we happen to be there.  Suzanne and I were recently passing through LAX and I told her the story about it, not realizing that we would be stuck waiting for 5 hours there 2 days later.  When that happened, I insisted that we head over for lunch. To our delight we discovered that the Encounter was still going strong, lava lamps, kooky elevator soundtrack and all!

Wysi Wipes Inspired by a magnificent red lava lamp, we decided to make a video with a new product that we had just discovered: Wysi Wipes.  In case you don’t have the patience for the video, Wysi Wipes are handy-dandy little personal wipes that require only a bit of water to work their magic, and are biodegradable to boot.

As DivaCup users and Moms, we immediately appreciated their potential usefulness.  One of those situations where what looked bad a first actually turned into something pretty good.  Enjoy, and don’t forget that for April we are offering 2 free Wysi Wipes (packaged in a Pochette) with all orders over $50, plus Wysi Wipe 12 packs are intro-priced at $2.99!

Assume the Stance

We are pretty excited to be offering the pStyle as the latest addition to the Lunapads collection. The pStyle is an ingenius device which allows vagina owners to pee standing up. That’s right! Stand up and pee ladies, go ahead you know you’ve always wanted to. While you’re at it, here is a song for you to practice your “pStyle pose” to:

For more about the pStyle and why you should be excited about it see Sandra’s post here.

Let’s Get Visible!

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008 by Sandra

It’s cold, it’s rainy and it’s dark – but that doesn’t stop me from riding my bike! Many people commute by bike year-round (even in snowy locales!) Here in Vancouver it’s not so bad, we have much milder winters than the rest of Canada and a great cycling coalition to encourage us.

This year the Vancouver Area Cycling Coalition (VACC) has decided to put on a ‘Bike to Work Week’ in November. To help make our rides safer this time of year I had the pleasure of helping make a fun little video reminding riders that being visible to cars is super-important in keeping you safe and getting visible can be a whole lot of fun!

A play on Olivia Newton John’s ‘Physical’ – we changed it to ‘Let’s Get Visible’ and had our own ‘Olivia’ sing more bike-appropriate lyrics. You may see one Sandra Allen in a couple shots! (Oh, and I should warn you now…this song gets stuck in your head!)

Presented by: VACC, B:C:Clettes (an amazing bike dance troupe!) and Momentum Magazine (the magazine for self-propelled people)

Videography by: Gwendal Castellan (of Long Road North fame) and David Niddrie (my boyfriend!)

Ride safe! (And have fun making your own reflective hot shorts - I know I’m going to!)

“beyond the environment”

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008 by Madeleine

My husband received this video the other day courtesy of a friend in the UK and we have enjoyed it several times since. The first time I watched it, I wasn’t sure if it was real or a spoof on an actual incident involving an oil spill off the Australian coast. Not knowing exactly where it came from (other than Australia), I have come to the conclusion that it’s just a brilliant Monty Python-esque spoof on certain people who, let’s say, don’t exactly get it about environmental issues that would be even funnier if it didn’t have some elements of inconvenient truth…enjoy!

A tomato obsession

While it hasn’t been the best summer (or spring, for that matter!) in this part of the world weather-wise, I must say that I’ve been over the moon with my garden. Being a gardening newbie, I’m still mostly about enthusiasm, with less on the knowledge and experience front, but thanks to good soil and exposure in our yard, I’m having decent success. So far, we’ve had a bumper crop of lettuce, swiss chard, beans, peas, carrots, spinach and a few tasty little strawberries. Leeks and beets are still on their way, and the only thing that has really gone sideways was a few broccoli plants that developed a nasty gray fungus.

But my pride and joy are the tomatoes (above left!). Oh, how I love fresh summer heirloom tomatoes. In prior summers you could find me lurking at one of Vancouver’s farmer’s markets, coveting the weirdest-looking, most obscurely-colored ones. I treat mine like little babies, fussing over and coddling them, picking off any nasty little flies foolish enough to even attempt to sully my lovelies. The funniest thing, though, is that they completely took me by surprise - I just had no idea that they would 1) survive in the first place 2) suddenly become taller than me and therefore need cages or 3) that I would have to think about things like pruning them (which I now do obsessively - look out, suckers!)

It’s currently raining cats, dogs and several other small mammals here and I am fearing for my precious ones - fingers crossed that we see the sun again soon, so the feasting can begin!

A good laugh for a Friday afternoon!

Another Fun Video.

Friday, April 11th, 2008 by Lisa

We weren’t entirely sure what to think about all this, but thought the subject matter and off the wall approach made it a compelling friday afternoon share.

Thoughts?

We came across this video the other day on the BUST magazine site and thought that it was hysterical.  I must say that I love a good pad/tampon ad parody.  Now we just need to be able to offer “vaginal firewall protection” for Lunapads!
